Our very first client was the Clay Transportation Company in Tuscaloosa Alabama. The people at Clay had one non-electronic cash register and not a single printed form. They used yellow legal pads and sticky notes to record everything from shipping list to employee pay statements. About the only automated thing they had was their checkbook, and it hadn't been balanced in over two years. They were a very profitable business, running 26 over the road trucks to all of the lower 48 states. The problem was, some of the employees who had always taken care of things, were ready to retire.
